A battle of the sexes

Local Skittles Challenge Match

A challenge match between the champion team of Bideford and District Skittles League and the champion team of Bideford Women’s Skittles League resulted in a win for the men by 27 pins.

Representing the ladies were the Charrington Charlies team for whom M Kinsman was top scorer. Representing the men were Bideford British Legion, with A Williams making the highest contribution.

went through in the recent season unbeaten in their matches with neighbouring schools.

6.5.1969 Bideford Skittles Coasters Ladies

Coasters = Jennifer Copp, Dorothy Copp, Gladys Redclift, Violet Headon, Florence Copp and Doreen Wooldridge

The Coasters, of Division 1 of Bideford and District Ladies' Skittles League, this season won two trophies for the second year in succession and another for the third successive year. The trophies are the League Cup, Mothers' Pride cup and the highest aggregate away score cup.

In fact, the Coasters have been the only winners of the aggregate cup introduced three years ago.
